Hero Factory
This is a request for more hero customization for players. Let me start by saying this: I like how nightfall handles heros (perhaps not the number allowed) and I would like to see the game evolve from henchmen to heros only. I like the fact that we had one hero of each class and how some of them are required for certain missions and for the storyline.
What I think would be better is if not all heroes were premade. What if I wanted a hero that fit my PC's backstory, A Ha-chan to my Excel, an Authur to my Tick, a Robin to my Batman. Basically I'd like the ability to customize the looks of my heroes more and perhaps how they interact with the game/story.
Here are some of the things I'd like to see customizable: face, hair, armor colors and style (and their armors should be a little different than PC armors), quotes when running about, and voice/attitude/relationship to PC. The first ones are obvious, you choose their class (for most of them anyways, maybe one or two you are stuck with their class or they have a unique class).
It's the latter part, the customizable voice/attitude/relationship, is the juicy part of the idea. Make your choices here determine how you interact with your heroes in missions and quests, and maybe see special quests open up depending on what you choose. For example if you have a kind female/supportive/love interest the player might have some more romantic or romantic comedy quests, missions, and interactions with that NPC. Have 3 Heros that have the love interest relationship and you'll have some harem comedy elements to you missions/quests. However if you have a rough male/tough guy/rival and you'll end up with a Mugen to your Jin, or you could change rival to partner and get a Jet to your Spike.
Anyways I am suggesting this because it will allow more personalization of the game towards the players. One of these heroes (the one or two with a unique class or unique skills) could be a key person in the game's storyline (and in theory would require every player to have one of that hero for some missions). And if you wanted to copy some of your PCs to be heroes for another, that might be possible as well in case it isn't possible for you to have PCs as heroes directly.

It would be very nice, yes.

The customizable voice would still be of the same few voices, though.

great idea, just gonna take a long time on the player's part to make it. But I guess that's customizing for you.

If they are going to let you customize your Heros, they may as well let you use your other characters as Heros, since your going through all the trouble of making look, armor, and other selections.
Personally, I'm not totally sure it is a good thing, although it may be fun.

Heroes arent exactly pre-made when we unlock them.
They come with very few skills and/or any skills you have already unlocked/bought for that profession. They come with low yield weapons and you still have to level them to one degree or another. You still need to purchase runes, better weapons and nicer armor (if you choose).
And they already are fully customisable. You can change their skills, their runes and weapons. You can make them suit you in anyway way you want.
I dont really see what more you need in terms of necessity?
The only difference between heroes and real playable characters, is that we cant own multiple armor sets or dye their armor. I would agree it would be nice to do so.
Most of the suggestions you made though, are kind of "Sim City" like. I wouldnt complain at the idea, but it sounds more like trying to turn GWs into a god sim. Controlling love lives, and behaviours. Im not sure how this would intergrate into GWs and its storyline.
I dont think we should humanise the heroes, otherwise we detract from them being no more then AI and help which we use when we cant find humans or a PUG.

I don't see how this would do the game any good. it is still meant to play with people (now limited to only 2 required to have a fully functional team). And the henchies aren't that bad. What you want is making the henchies completely redundant. I don't think it is wise to further support 'only the lonely' type of play in this online massive multiplayer game.

that was fine indeed. a little bit iritating to use a low level hero in a high level mission, but aside from that good for storyline development.

you already can unlock several armors for them. but i guess you want to take it a step further.

I think the prebuilt hench will always be around. They're a good grab and go, especially for the low-level missions. Why limit choices? Use heroes, hench, or real players. It's up to you.

Here's an idea I had while playing in the Kurz areas that I think would really work with this idea: monster/npc race heros. I got it while running around with danika and brutus/sheena.
Just imagine having a lightning drake elementalist, or a scale necro, or a naga ritualist? I imagine there'd have to be a few restrictions applied to limit the amount of work for the devs, but it could make things interesting. Those heroes might have to be a little tougher to get the options to open up.

Yes that would be a problem, but I think there could be ways to overcome it. Perhaps on certain primary quests/missions you could require at least part of the party be human. Another part of the problem is difficulty. There are missions in NF that really don't require another human because they are so easy. Then you have to figure how the work will be done. I don't think one person can directly control 8 characters at once, so there will be that limitation. But perhaps it could be that the first 3 heroes are as they are now, and the last four will act like henchies (meaning you can't access their skills at all).

Can I just ask what the definition of a prebuilt hero/hench is?
A prebuild hench I understand because we cant change them at all, and they are set for that area by level.
My idea of a prebuild hero is one who is 100% effective from the word go. However a Heroes is low level, low armor, low yeild, limited skills, no chosen secondary, and no full spell bar from the moment you unlock them.
There might be the case where you have a hero of identical profession as a main character, in which case you have a wider/full selection of skills.
You may also own max weapons or off-hand items to give them.
But if not, then they are not 100% effective. They require leveling, they require skills unlocked, a secondary chosen, armor increased or unlocked, weapons bought or dropped.
In this case and from my understanding, Heros are not prebuild.
The OP is asking for more customising of Heroes. I dont understand what more we could customise that is a neccessity for battle and effectiveness, other then multiple armor sets.
I appreciate the idea of maybe adding features to humanise the heroes, and add character to them and deeper storylines and interaction between them, but as I said, that turn GWs into Sim Wars!
Am I wrong in my idea of what a prebuild hero is?

I think he ment prebuild as in Koss has his own storyline, haircut, armor set, etc. Not skills.
If anything for "Hero Factory" I would like to make my own "AI" I hoped for it in Nightfall but alas i got henchies with my own skills.
Dunkoro:
If Ally Hp < 75%
Then Skill #1 //Healing Breeze
If self hexed Spiteful Spirit
Then Attack = off //Stop attacking
If target foe = enchanted
Then Skill #3 //Shatter Enchantment
Sustain Enchantments = true
---
Stuff like that.

The idea of having your other characters available as heroes is great. Although it would be an overkill.
